Sunflowers

 We are totally taking our new life in North Carolina by storm. We are embracing life, enjoying each moment and taking in the beautiful benefits. For weeks on our homeschool email list a person has been advertising their small farm where you can come and pick your own sunflowers. I have seen it but the times didn't work out for us. Until yesterday. We headed down to the farm, which was only 20 minutes away. This was a definite first for all of us.
 Judah loved running around the farm and finding the biggest sunflowers. There were bumble bees everywhere, but he wasn't afraid. He probably cut the most, besides me.
 All the kids went with me. See all the sunflowers behind them. It was just so beautiful. The mountains surrounded us, the air was a perfect temperature and we just took it all in.
Funny thing is that the farm goes by the "honor" system. Pick as many flowers that can fit in your basket and leave your money in the envelope. Crazy, right? Can't do that in most cities in this country. So here is our abundance. The car smelled lovely on the ride home. Thankfully we didn't bring any bumble bees with us home. What a perfect afternoon and wonderful memory for my family.

     This post has been churning in me for months and knew that I wanted to write it and post it one day. 2020...What does that look like to you? I am ready to BLOOM!

As I sit here at my desk, we have already gone through the first few days of 2020. I keep shaking my head when I think that we are already 20 years into this century. Doesn't it feel like moments ago we were talking about Y2K? So much has happened since then. Matthew and I were talking just this morning that I will turn 45 this year, and how half of my 40s will be over and how fast they have gone. And how difficult they have been. But I have hope. I never lose hope. I got that from my mom. I am expecting a great year. Not because I think I won't have trials this year, it's because I am stronger than ever before. So, a few days ago I was listening to something. I can't even remember what it was. But I heard the word BLOOM. And I instantly knew God was saying that this is my word for the year. Warning: Do you think your child may be Dyslexic?

Three years ago today our world changed so much here at the Reynolds Nation. On that day we found out officially by the psychologist that Judah was dyslexic. I had been concerned for about 9 months that he was...I had heard on Good Morning one day what are some of the signs of dyslexia. Though I always watched my kids for dyslexia, Judah just didn't have the classic signs... like the turning of the letters B, D and P.  Everyone always looks for that, but Judah didn't do that. But he was behind in his reading. And wasn't progressing in a rate that was okay. So, we had him tested. And it was confirmed.
