Let the summer continue


As the rest of Volusia county prepares to start school on Monday, I must admit that the Reynolds family is going to be still splashing in the pool, the beach and soaking in the air conditioning, oops I mean the rays! As a Northerner I think it is almost illegal to start school before the Labor Day holiday. August is still summer...hasn't the Florida school districts figured that out? I just can't get into the school mode in this blazing heat and long humid days. Now don't get me wrong, my school schedule is in the back of mind, trying to push forward. I just scream, two more weeks...just two more weeks! So, while the rest of the moms are packing lunches and stuffing backpacks, I will be enjoying the last few weeks of summer.

I am one of those crazy Moms. Of course it really didn't matter much now that the public schools had off on their second day of school. I'm with you about starting after Labor Day. However, because I have one in the PS, I start homeschooling the same day and we live by the PS calendar sort of....I was able to continue to homeschool today even though PS were closed. Yeah!!! See ya at the open house!

     This post has been churning in me for months and knew that I wanted to write it and post it one day. I have been very open and honest about where I have been at the last few years, so some of what I write today may not be a surprise to anyone. 2020...What does that look like to you? I am ready to BLOOM!

As I sit here at my desk, we have already gone through the first few days of 2020. I keep shaking my head when I think that we are already 20 years into this century. Doesn't it feel like moments ago we were talking about Y2K? So much has happened since then. Matthew and I were talking just this morning that I will turn 45 this year, and how half of my 40s will be over and how fast they have gone. And how difficult they have been. But I have hope. I never lose hope. I got that from my mom. I am expecting a great year. Not because I think I won't have trials this year, it's because I am stronger than ever before. Warning: Do you think your child may be Dyslexic?

Three years ago today our world changed so much here at the Reynolds Nation. On that day we found out officially by the psychologist that Judah was dyslexic. I had been concerned for about 9 months that he was...I had heard on Good Morning one day what are some of the signs of dyslexia. Though I always watched my kids for dyslexia, Judah just didn't have the classic signs... like the turning of the letters B, D and P.  Everyone always looks for that, but Judah didn't do that. But he was behind in his reading. And wasn't progressing in a rate that was okay. So, we had him tested. And it was confirmed. And on that day I started an intense search to find what help we could find for Judah. Several people pointed us to the Barton Reading and Spelling program...and that's the avenue we took.
