Happy Birthday to my Dad!

Today is my dad's ...44th...birthday...lol! I won't tell his true age...that wouldn't be very gracious. If you know me, you know that my dad and I have had an up and down relationship. Despite all of that, I love him so much and I am so happy to be his daughter. Born in Warwick, New York, the last of eight children. Though he was loved dearly by his parents, he had tons of struggles with poverty, racism and he always had to earn what he got. One of my favorite memories of my dad is that he always volunteered as the coach of my sports team, and he even went on a field trip for school. As I get older I see so many aspects of him in me...I am excellent speller like him, I can remember dates and numbers from history like him and I now say things that I remember him saying when I was kid..so weird? And one of my favorite things is to hear him tell me my birth story on my birthday...how he was so excited and proud! I am so proud to be his daughter and look forward to good years ahead. Though we don't always agree...especially about politics...one day he will be a conservative...there is hope for anything, but that's okay that we don't agree...it keeps the conversation fun. So on this 22nd of February, I wish my father a happy birthday...and I hope you have many more!

Thank you so much for what was written. As I told you on the phone, listening to the grandchildren sing to me on the phone was worth more than the Presidents stimulus package. They gave me tears of joy and gratitude. As I told you on the phone I am so grateful that God gave you to your mom and I. I am so blessed to be allowed to live long enough to see all the precious grandchildren and also see you grow into a beauftiful, mature, and spiritual person. My dad, your grandfather, told me two months before you were born that we would have a little girl. He knew. I am sure he and Nana are looking down from heaven saying "well done".

I love all of you with all my heart and soul. You have made my day. Each day, I have learned to ask God to give me what I need and not what I want. It always works out. Just like your Nana said it would.
